Holistic health care for your entire family
Acupuncture is a method of contacting and stimulating the body’s natural healing systems to improve health and functioning. A treatment is accomplished by the insertion of very fine, single-use disposable needles into specifically chosen points on the body. Most patients report not feeling the insertion of the needles and experiencing a sense of deep relaxation while the needles are in.
The scientific explanation of acupuncture is that needling the acupuncture points stimulates the body to release natural chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These substances either change the experience of pain or trigger the release of other chemicals or hormones that influence the body’s own internal regulating system.
Gary Lewis, M.D. diagnoses the issue, determines the acupuncture course of treatment and administers the treatments. He studied medical acupuncture at the renowned Helms Medical Institute at UCLA and Stanford University where he graduated in 2002. He has incorporated medical acupuncture into his practice since 2003 for a wide variety of medical conditions.
